Should I stop taking all my medications before anesthesia?

- No, only a certain medications need to be stopped. Good majority of medications MUST NOT be stopped prior to your anesthesia, so please be sure to review our Medication Management page, and always let us know if you have further questions

I need to take my medications but I was told not to eat or drink anything before my anesthesia. What should I do?

- If you need to take medications before your anesthesia, you can take your medications with a tiny sip of water.

​My child will only take medications with an applesauce or peanut butter. Can I give it to him/her before the anesthesia?

- No, solid food in the stomach can pose a serious risk during anesthesia. Please consult your physician on whether your child can stop his/her dose of medications before the anesthesia.
